Leave the Green Man PH by the front door and turn left into Church Road.
Follow the road and at the second junction go straight ahead into Stonebridge Lane.
In 250 yards you will come to the bridge over the River Itchen from which the village gets its name.
Follow the road round to the right and pass under the old railway bridge. Continue along the road past the entrance to Snowford Hill Farm and until the end of the third field on the left, where there is a rutted track up the hill. There is an Unclassified Road and footpath signs adjacent to it.
Take this track and enjoy the view from the top of the hill before you pass the old metal barn and descend down the other side.
Just before you reach the bridge over the Grand Union Canal go through the gap in the hedge ahead and to the right and descend onto the canal towpath.
Turn left and pass under the bridge.
Continue along the towpath until you reach bridge number 25, which is the main A423 through the village. Just before the bridge there is a green pumping station on your left, take the public footpath to the rear of the pumping station.
Head across the field and through two metal kissing gates, continue in the same direction and across the new bridge over the stream and through another kissing gate.
At the next kissing gate carry straight on into Thorn Way until you reach the Square.
At the T junction turn left onto Church Road and follow the road for about 400 yards back to the pub.
